Professional Development & Inclusion Resource Center
The Professional Development & Inclusion Resource Center (PDIRC) provides research-based technical assistance, professional development, resource identification and development, and direct services to the Migrant Education Program (MEP) and the New York State Migrant Education Tutorial and Support Services (METS). Migrant students represent multiple historically-excluded groups: race, class, language, and immigrant status. The educational focus of this statewide PDIRC brings an understanding of how to bridge the gaps of inherited divisions across barriers.
The PDIRC’s role in the system is to collaborate with the MEP to assess unmet and emerging needs of migrant children and MEP staff and to identify and/or develop the resources (e.g., materials, resource guides, guidelines, DVD’s, training curriculum, and workshops) to meet those needs. The focus of all technical assistance and professional development is to build internal capacity. Through technical assistance, training workshops and coaching PDIRC provides the education and skill development for staff, parents, and students. Our mission is to provide quality leadership, technical assistance, training and education that support all dimensions of diversity. Our partnership approach is distinguished by its vision, research base and its safe and expansive learning opportunities.
